Lessons
Lessons are available to riders as young as 5 years old, and we welcome all experience levels. We hold lessons every day, Monday through Saturday.
Assessment lesson- we start everyone off with an assessment lesson, regardless of previous experience. This allows us to gauge your comfort level around horses, and this allows riders to get a feel for our teaching style and program expectations to make sure this is the right fit. We can then determine a good lesson program moving forward and get an idea of where the rider would fit into the schedule. All assessment lessons are a 1-hour private lesson limited to 1 rider at a time. Assessment lessons are $115 per rider, and payment is due at the time of booking to secure your spot.
All lessons are 1-hour lessons. However, beginners are required to remain in private lessons until they can safely ride independently, with instructor approval.
Riders can also request to remain in private lessons if that is their preference, but we encourage riders to participate in group lessons if possible.
1-hour group lessons are also available for intermediate and above riders with prior instructor approval and pending horse availability.
1-hour lessons include horse care/grooming before and after your lesson, tacking/untacking at each lesson. It can take some riders in the beginning 30 minutes or more of their lesson time to get their horse groomed/tacked up, leaving only 20 minutes of ride time. That is completely normal in the beginning. Our program is geared towards building independent riders who are able to care for and tack up their horses. We will always be there to help when you need it, but we encourage every rider to try once before an instructor steps in. Once the instructor deems each rider capable of caring for their horse without supervision, riders are expected to be tacked up and ready to ride at the start of their lesson time unless otherwise stated.

Lesson Requirements:
LOF has limited rider equipment available following your assessment lesson. Students who are planning to ride weekly are encouraged to purchase their own equipment (Helmet, Boots, Gloves, Half chaps) if possible; we are happy to assist in this process. To preserve the longevity of our helmets and to fund new ones when needed, a $5 fee will be added to each lesson when one of our loan helmets is used beyond the assessment lesson. For more information on this, including helpful information on what to buy and where, please check out our Riders & Parents handbook, linked here.
